YOUR JOURNEY, SIMPLIFIED
A step-by-step guide
to travelling together.
Marhaba! If you’re planning to take your dog or cat to the UAE, careful preparation is essential. The country has strict regulations to ensure the health and welfare of animals entering its borders. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to make your journey smooth and stress-free.
STEP 01
Check your Pet's Microchip & Vaccinations
Start preparing early
Your pet must be microchipped and have valid vaccinations before travelling to the UAE. The microchip number must match the details on their vaccination records and travel documents.
Make sure your pet is vaccinated against:
Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Infectious Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Leptospirosis.
Cats: Rabies, Feline Panleukopenia, Rhinotracheitis and Calicivirus.
If your pet needs their first rabies vaccination, it must be administered more than 21 days before export.
Not sure if everything is up to date? We can review your pet's vaccination records and advise on any additional vaccinations needed before travelling.
STEP 02
Secure your UAE Import Permit
Valid for 90 days
Before travelling, your pet must have a valid import permit issued by the UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).
The permit is valid for 90 days from the date of issue and must be obtained before your pet enters the UAE.
You can apply directly through the MOCCAE website or use a pet relocation agent to assist you. We can also put you in touch with trusted pet relocation agents who can help with the import permit and other travel arrangements.
STEP 03
Final Examination, Parasite Treatment & Health Certificate
Final examination within 24 hours of export
Before departure, your pet must undergo a clinical examination by an Official Veterinarian to confirm they are healthy and fit to travel.
Your pet also requires treatment against internal and external parasites. These treatments can usually be administered during the same appointment, making the final preparations more convenient.
All our vets are Official Veterinarians, and after the examination we will provide you with the required Export Health Certificate (EHC), confirming that your pet meets the UAE's veterinary entry requirements. You are ready to travel!
Additional considerations
Plan your vaccinations carefully. The rabies vaccine must be given at least 21 days before travel.
Keep the original vaccination card. Authorities in the UAE want to see the original vaccination card used for the vaccinations, so please keep that with you during the trip.
Travelling through other countries? Additional health certifications may be required. If your pet is travelling in the cabin with Etihad, a Fit to Fly Certificate and Certificate of Anti-Parasitic Treatment are required from up to 7 days before your flight.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Your questions,
answered.
From travel certificates to home visits, find answers to common questions before your journey.
-
Your pet will need an Export Health Certificate (EHC 3926), issued by an Official Veterinarian, and a valid UAE import permit. You'll also need your pet's vaccination records, including proof of rabies vaccination and the other vaccinations required by the UAE.
We can help you prepare the veterinary documentation, check your pet's vaccination history and arrange the necessary examination and certification before departure.
-
We recommend contacting us as soon as you know your intended travel date, ideally several weeks in advance.
If your pet's vaccinations are already in order, the veterinary preparation may be relatively straightforward. However, if your pet needs a first rabies vaccination, this must be administered more than 21 days before export.
We can review your pet's records in advance and help you work out exactly what needs to be done and when.
-
No. Dogs and cats travelling directly from the UK to Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE do not require a rabies antibody titre test (RNATT). A test is also not required when returning directly from the UAE to Great Britain.
However, different rules may apply if you plan to travel to other countries with your pet in the future.
For certain destinations, arranging a rabies antibody test before leaving the UK can make future travel easier and help prevent delays.
If you're planning further international travel, let us know. We can review your itinerary and advise whether testing in advance would be beneficial.
-
Your pet must be examined by an Official Veterinarian within 24 hours of export, as required by the UK Export Health Certificate.
This makes careful scheduling particularly important, especially if you have an early flight or are travelling with a pet relocation company.
We offer home visits across London, allowing your pet to have its final examination and veterinary certification in the comfort of your home, without an additional trip to a veterinary practice.
-
Yes! We offer veterinary home visits across London, including the examination and certification required for your pet's journey to the UAE.
Depending on your pet's needs, we can also help with vaccinations, microchip checks and parasite treatments.
Home visits can be especially convenient when you're preparing for an international relocation, and help make the process less stressful for both you and your pet.
-
Yes. All dogs and cats travelling to the UAE require an import permit issued by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE). The permit is valid for 90 days.
We cannot arrange import permits directly, but you can apply directly through the MOCCAE website or use a pet relocation agent to assist you. Additionally, if you need help with the process, we can put you in touch with trusted pet relocation agents who can assist with import permits, transport and other travel arrangements.
We take care of the veterinary side, including vaccinations, parasite treatments and the Export Health Certificate.
-
Dogs need valid vaccinations against rabies, distemper, parvovirus, infectious canine hepatitis and leptospirosis. Cats need valid vaccinations against rabies, feline panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis and calicivirus.
Both dogs and cats also require treatment against internal and external parasites less than 14 days before shipping, using products that meet the certificate requirements.
We can check your pet's vaccination records, identify anything missing and arrange the necessary veterinary treatments.
-
The cost depends on your pet's requirements, the appointment location and date and whether any additional vaccinations or treatments are needed.
We provide clear, personalised quotes so you know what to expect before booking.
Contact us with your pet's details, intended travel date and location, and we'll be happy to provide a no-obligation quote.
-
Absolutely. We're happy to work alongside your chosen pet relocation or shipping company.
While your relocation agent manages the transport arrangements, we can handle the veterinary side, including reviewing vaccination records, arranging necessary treatments and completing the Export Health Certificate.
We can also coordinate the timing of the final examination around your pet's departure, including arranging a convenient home visit in London.
-
Yes. You can bring your dog or cat back to Great Britain from the UAE without a rabies antibody titre test (RNATT), as the UAE is recognised as a listed country under UK pet travel rules.
Your pet will need a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination and a Great Britain pet health certificate issued by an authorised Official Veterinarian in the UAE, within 10 days of entry into Great Britain.
Dogs must also receive tapeworm treatment between 24 hours and 5 days before arrival.
If you're planning to travel to other countries before returning to the UK, different requirements may apply. Let us know your travel plans and we can advise whether arranging a rabies blood test before leaving the UK would be beneficial.
