Requirements

The minimum age for a pet to travel to Qatar is 16 weeks.
Additionally, the following breeds are banned from entering Qatar:
• American Staffordshire Terrier
• Boerboel
• Boston Terrier
• Boxer
• Bull Terrier
• Bulldog
• Chinese Shar-Pei
• Dobermann
• Great Dane
• Japanese Akita
• Neapolitan Mastiff
• Afghan Hound
• Rottweiler
• Staffordshire Bull Terrier

No dog or cat may be imported into Qatar except in accordance with the terms of an import permit.
The permit must be obtained from the Department of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Development, Animal Health Affairs, Doha, Qatar.

Each pet must be identified with a microchip transponder compliant with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO Standard 11785, in order to identify univocally the pet.

In order to export your pet to Qatar, he/she must be vaccinated against Rabies, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and no less than 30 days before travelling.

Your pet must be examined by a vet within 48hrs before embarkation.

Official Veterinarians (OVs) are the only vets authorised by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to sign the document required to travel with your dog or cat to Qatar.
All of our vets have gone through the rigorous training to become OVs and are authorised from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) to perform different tasks on behalf of the UK Government. Completing this Health Certificate is one of them.
