Taking your Cat or Dog to the

Republic of Georgia

Everything you need to know in 2025

Are you thinking about taking your dog or cat to beautiful Tbilisi? Or just visiting the Republic of Georgia?

We are here to help you.

Our vets are very familiar with the official requirements necessary to have a smooth travel and are happy to help if needed.

Requirements

  • A special veterinary certificate is required to travel with your dog from the UK to Georgia.

The certificate must be approved by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and signed by an Official Vet, which is a vet who has gone through a special training to be authorised to complete Export Health Certificates.

  • In order to take your pet to Georgia, he/she needs to be vaccinated against Rabies at least 30 days before travelling, and no more than 12months before your trip.

  • Your pet must be examined by a vet within 48hrs days before travelling to Georgia, and the vet should declare that your pet is fit to travel.

After this examination, provided that all the requirements are met (see below), we provide the owners with the Export Health Certificate.

  • It is the responsibility of the exporter/agent to apply to the relevant authorities of any transit countries for permission to transport the animals through these countries. Additional health certification may be necessary.

Taking your pet to the Georgia is not very difficult but requires some additional qualifications and can still be quite challenging even for your own vet.

We are Specialists in this and are happy to help.

We prepare these documents every day and can perform all the necessary checks directly at your door, making it convenient for you and reducing the risk of your pet getting sick just before your trip, by meeting unwell pets at the vets.
