Taking your
Dog or Cat to
Bangladesh
from the UK
Everything you need in 2025
If you are thinking about taking your Dog or Cat to Bangladesh, we are here to help you.
Our vets are very familiar with the official requirements necessary to have a smooth travel and are happy to help.
Here is the full list of veterinary import requirements for your pet.
-
Your dog or cat needs to be vaccinated against Rabies at least 90 days and less than 12 months before travelling to Bangladesh.
If you are planning to come back in the UK, we recommend your pet to get a blood test to show that the vaccination was effective (Rabies Serology Test). This will allow you to come back more easily.
-
Exporters should contact the Veterinary Authorities in Bangladesh in order to obtain a “No Objections Certificate.”
The address of the Bangladesh Veterinary Authorities is as follows:
The Central Veterinary Hospital 48, Kazi Alauddin Road Dhaka 1000 Bangladesh
Telephone number: 00 8802 280614
-
A special veterinary certificate is required to travel with your pet from the United Kingdom to Bangladesh.
The certificate must be approved by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and signed by an Official Vet, which is a vet who has gone through a special training to be authorised to complete Export Health Certificates.
-
Your pet must be examined by a vet within two days before travelling to Bangladesh, and the vet should declare that your pet is fit to travel.
After this examination, provided that all the requirements are met (see below), we provide the owners with the Export Health Certificate.
-
When transported by air, animals should be transported in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards.
Information about welfare during transport in Great Britain and the necessary requirements can be obtained from the Animal and Plant Health Agency: Welfare in Transport Team Centre for International Trade
