🐾 Veterinary Import Requirements for Pets Traveling from the UK to Argentina 🇦🇷
Here’s a complete list of what you’ll need to ensure a smooth trip for your pet:
1. Veterinary Travel Certificate (Export Health Certificate) 📄
A special veterinary certificate, called Export Health Certificate, is required to travel with your dog or cat from the UK to Argentina. This certificate must be approved by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and then signed by an Official Vet (a vet that has received additional trainmen and is authorised to issue Export Health Certificates).*
*All of our vets are OVs.

2. Rabies Vaccination 💉
Your pet must be vaccinated against Rabies at least 30 days and no more than 12 months before travelling to Argentina.
We also recommend the following vaccinations for cats and dogs:
🐶 Dogs: Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis
🐱 Cats: Cat flu (feline herpes virus and feline calicivirus), Feline infectious enteritis (parvovirus), Feline leukaemia virus
🚨 Pro Tip: If you are planning to get your pet vaccinated, please note that Rabies and routine vaccinations should not be given on the same day, as they may invalidate each other.
3. Anti-Parasite Treatment 🪲
Your pet must undergo treatment for internal and external parasites within 15 days prior to travel.
This is an essential step to meet Argentina’s import regulations.
4. Clinical Examination 👨⚕️
A veterinarian must examine your pet within 10 days of your travel date. They will verify your pet’s health and fitness for travel.
Once all requirements are met, and immediately after the clinical examination, we’ll provide you with the Export Health Certificate and you will be ready to travel.
⚠️ Other Considerations
If you are planning to travel through other countries to reach your destination, additional documentation may be necessary. Most of our clients will either book direct flights with BA or travel through The Netherlands, Germany, France or Portugal, and we are familiar with all the requirements.
