Taking your

Dog or Cat to

Albania

from the UK

Everything you need in 2025

If you are thinking about taking your Dog or Cat to Albania, we are here to help you.

Our vets are very familiar with the official requirements necessary to have a smooth travel and are happy to help.

Here is the full list of veterinary import requirements for your pet.

  • Pets must be able to be identified by a clearly legible tattoo, or by an electronic identification system (microchip).

  • Your dog or cat needs to be vaccinated against Rabies at least 30 days and less than 6 months before travelling to Albania.

If you are planning to come back in the UK, we recommend your pet to get a blood test to show that the vaccination was effective (Rabies Serology Test). This will allow you to come back more easily.

  • If arriving by air, all pets must be checked at the airport upon arrival by the customs vet. Fee of the health check is about 50 EUR per pet.

  • Please note: if you are planning to travel through Europe to reach Albania, your pet must have an Animal Health Certificate or an European-issued Pet Passport, with a valid vaccination against Rabies.

Taking your pet to Albania shouldn’t be too difficult if you are travelling via plane, but it can be challenging if you are planning to travel through the UE. In this case, some particular forms are needed, and not all UK vets are licensed to prepare this paperwork.

We are Specialists in this and are happy to help.

We prepare these documents every day and can perform all the necessary checks directly at your door, making it convenient for you and reducing the risk of your pet getting sick just before your trip, by meeting unwell pets at the vets.
